Integrated Circuit ( IC )

Integrated circuit is an electronic circuit for on a small piece of semiconductiing material, performing the same function as a larger circuit made from discrete components.

Advantages of IC's

1. Very small weight owing to miniaturised circuit.

2. Lower power consumption because of the smaller size.

3. Easy replication as it is more economical to replace them than repair them.

4. Increased operating speed because of the absence of parasitic capacitance effect.

5. The greater ability of operating at extreme temperatures.
