Digital Signal

A digital signal refers to an electrical signal that is converted into a pattern of bits. It is used to represent data as a sequence of discrete values. It is represented by a square wave.

Advantage of Digital Signal

(1)  The frequency of the carrier wave is usually higher.

(2) Accuracy and precision are greater.

(3) The combined wave is transmitted.

(4) Maintain quality over long distances.

(5) Sensitivity to electrical noise is minimal.

Disadvantage of Digital Signal

(1) Can be complex.

(2) Output subject to quantities, errors for sampling.

(3) Leads to loss of information.

Effect of noise in Digital Signal.

Digital circuits are more immune to noise-related problems than analog circuits. Even so, noise still affects digital signals and can cause errors in data sampling by distorting the voltage amplitude.
